I have taught Mastering Breach and Adversarial Attack Simulation Engagements at DEF CON Training in Las Vegas on 10 and 11 August 2026, with refreshed labs and tooling.
Students work through a whole intrusion in a defended lab range: initial access, evasion, lateral movement, threat actor and ransomware emulation, then exfiltration. Each step is mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, and we look at every technique from the defender's console as well as from the operator's side.
Students who passed the practical exam got the CBAS certification, DEF CON Training edition, with a digital badge and a challenge coin.
